DOUGLASS MARKET TRANSFORMATION PLAN

The Douglass-Market Transformation Plan is the culmination of a planning effort in Detroit’s Brush Park and Eastern Market areas that contributed to an application for a federal Choice Neighborhoods grant to support mixed-use mixed-income housing and community development. The planning effort was led by the City of Detroit and Wallace Roberts & Todd. DCDC led planning and design for the Neighborhood portion of the project, contributing to the Douglass-Market Transformation Plan. Key principles focused on strengthening connections, access to economic opportunity, neighborhood health, and community safety. DCDC also led civic engagement for the project, convening the Choice Network as a representative advisory group, as well as a range of stakeholder meetings.
