EASTERN MARKET 2025
Eastern Market 2025 is a strategic plan that will help guide economic development in Detroit’s farmers market and food distribution district for the next ten years. Goals for the district and the planning effort include: maintaining authenticity as a food-focused district; enhancing the market as a place for equitable development; increasing connectivity and bridging neighborhoods; encouraging diverse and dense growth; and increasing the mix of people, businesses and opportunities. The planning process, completed in November 2015, relied on interaction and input from a vast range of stakeholders who contribute to the market community, ranging from butchers and coffee roasters to gallery owners and market visitors. DCDC led the civic engagement efforts for the planning process and advised the technical planning team, led by OLIN.
